// Custom WordPress Theme Competition Winner

// Apr 11th, 2008 & filed under Off Topic

Talk about blogging/design burn out!  Check out what’s going on here:

  • A premium theme almost ready for release.
  • Setting up a subdomain, and working out documentation for the premium theme.
  • Setting up a forum for premium theme users.
  • Sitting on a free theme which is about to be released.
  • In the middle of a project for a client.
  • Working out the future path for Alpha, and getting us there.

So it’s busy, and although the site is only a handful of weeks old, yesterday we cruised through the 2000 uniques barrier (not a social media spike). I’ll keep cranking out the best content possible, so stay tuned.

Competition winner

Although there wasn’t a heap of contestants, we had a pretty interesting voting round for the custom design competition. Two blogs were pushing for the podium, using some interesting tactics to drive people to this site to vote for them. The eventual winner, was Monty from Idea Mix.

I’ve already contacted Monty, and I really look forward to working with him in the coming weeks. He’s got a fairly new blog, so I hope we can develop something which will help him to succeed online (or maybe he’ll choose to use the prize to run a competition on his own site. In which case, I’ll let you know).

Congratulations Monty. Also, thank you to the others who took part. Don’t be too dismayed, there will be more offers and freebies to come. Sign up to the newsletter, (the form is in the sidebar) as in the future, most of the offers will be exclusively for those who I have on the mailing list.

    Grats to Monty for winning. I’d love to know how he got so many votes without even a blog post on it :D

    Marketing tactics like that would be really handy.

    Thanks Max, I’m sooo happy I won.

    I actually asked for help from a lot of friends and people who I knew I could count on, I must have asked about 20 friends and each of them asked another few people, so I think a lot of it comes down to networking. I also made some posts on a forum or two which at least got people to look at my site and decide if they wanted to vote. I targeted people who I knew would like Ideamix so I think that’s a good way to generate votes.

    I will be working with Armen on the new design for ideamix. Well done to all the other entrants, I still can’t believe I won because there were some much more established blogs in the contest.
